COL Peter J. Coffin – Army Quartermaster Foundation, Inc.

Colonel Peter (Pete) Cofoni, was born in Westerly, Rhode Island. He entered the University of Rhode Island with the class of 1955 and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. He participated in Army ROTC, was a Cadet Company Commander, and a member of the Scabbard and Blade Military Honor Society. Upon graduation in May 1955, Pete was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Quartermaster Corps. His initial company grade assignment was as Executive Officer, Quartermaster Training Company, and Logistics Officer, US Army Support Activity, LaRochelle, France. While assigned in LaRochelle, France, he also served as a Quartermaster Parachute Maintenance and Aerial Delivery officer. He then served successively as an Infantry Platoon Leader, at Fort Benning, Georgia and Fort Devens, Massachusetts as well as a Weapons Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer and Commander of the 556th Parachute Aerial Support Company, Evreux, France. Here he was also the Chief of Plans and Operations G3, Air Delivery Branch, 3rd Logistics Command US Army Europe. Colonel Cofoni was selected to command the 47th Area Support Group, Burtonwood, United Kingdom, an element of the 21st Support Command. Colonel Cofoni successfully completed 30 years of service and he retired October 1986.
